No Frills No Lace Bras for Women Who Hate Bras

Not a fan of lace? Prefer something more androgynous? Or just like minimal, comfortable no frill bras? Lace is great if you love frills, but not everyone does.  Not to mention some people find it itchy and uncomfortable.  However, if you have a large bust, going without a bra may not work.  So what bra do you wear if you hate bras?

The wrong bra can mean pinching wires, slipping straps, or a band that digs into your stomach. Ouch! Who needs that? The right bra can fix those problems (here are ten bra fitting tips that can help) so that you don't have to spend your day constantly adjusting your bra.

Bras Without Underwires or Lace for Average Busts

Great for light support and lounging around the house. This has no frills or lace, just smooth, stretchy fabric that adjusts to your shape. There’s also elastic along the band and the top of the cups for a better fit. Tall sides and back help smooth out lumps and bumps and there are no seams on the cups.

This is best if you are average height since the band would be a problem for shorter torsos.

Think bralette meets support.  There's no wires, no lace, and no frills, but the fabric supports really well.  The front is lightly padded for modesty and to be more comfortable against your skin.  The edges are bonded (along the top and bottom front of the bra) so there's no itchy stitching to irritate your skin.

The straps don't adjust, but they are stretchy and can be worn standard or criss-crossed.

Calvin Klein Women's Modern Cotton Unlined Wireless Bralette

Soft, comfy, and so not like a lacy, frilly bra you could probably let it show under something else. It’s even made mostly of cotton (53%) for comfort and breathability. No clasps or hooks to bother with, just pull it over your head.

Comes in 14 different colors, including gray, pink, black, and pale blue in sizes XS - 3X. Calvin Klein tends to run small so keep that in mind when ordering.

A simple, triangle bra with the CK logo along the band. No lace, no frills and no hooks to dig into your back. The straps can be worn standard or criss-crossed. It’s also 92% cotton, for comfort. Good for lounging, or for smaller busted women who don’t need a lot of support. Since the band is wide, it’s better if you have a smaller abdomen (so the band doesn’t cut into your stomach).

Comes in eleven colors, including black, gray, beige, red, and teal in sizes XS-XL (again this brand runs extra small, so adjust accordingly).

Warner's Women's No Side Effects Underarm-Smoothing Comfort Bra

A smoothing, contour bra with no wires and no bows. The sides and back are high to help smooth out bulges and keep back fat under control. Since it’s a contour bra, it is a bit thicker, which will help hide nipples and give you a more even shape if you are full on bottom.

The straps adjust in the front, which makes it easier to get the length right. The straps do have a bit of shimmery fabric, but it's not super-noticeable.

No lace, no frills, just smooth fabric with a contrasting color along the straps and outside the cups. The straps adjust in the center so it’s easier to get the right fit while wearing the bra. It’s got a wide center panel, so it’s better if you are wide-set. You can also wear the straps criss-crossed.

Comes in damask/white, white, black/white, frost/gray, navy/caribbean blue, and fuchsia/black. Sizes 36-38 C-DD; 40-44 B-DD.

The cups are running a little small, so keep that in mind. Also, since this is a sports bra it may feel a bit tight at first (even in the right size), so allow for it to stretch a little.

Comfortable Non Wired Bras for Plus Sizes and Full Figures

Need a comfortable non wired bra for plus size or full figure? While it's not that hard to find comfortable non wired bras in an A or B cup, finding a supportive non wired bra for plus sizes and larger cup sizes can be tricky. And, the larger your body (or your bust, or both) the more difficult it gets.

Wired bras are great for lift and hold, but they can also dig in to your arms, cut into your chest, and even leave marks.  Ouch! 

Or, you might have a problem because the underwire isn't sitting flat against your body.

Even if you're normally not bothered by wires, there are times when you're bloated, that a wire just won't do. These are also a good option if you've had surgery and your skin is sensitive. 

Larger busted and full figure women can also have issues with underwires poking under the arms, even if you are wearing the right size.  It's even worse if you are both plus sized and petite. Many of the wires are just too long for you.

And, if you wear a minimizer, that can cause discomfort because many of them work by pushing tissue to the sides, which can make the underwire uncomfortable.

Luckily,  if you are plus size and hate underwires, or absolutely can't wear them without discomfort, you don't have to!

Limited stretch straps and a leotard back give you more support and stop the straps from slipping off your shoulders (this is great if you're petite or have round shoulders).

Hate heavy, bulky bras? This one is made with 3D spacer fabric, so it will be cooler on hot days. It also makes the bra considerably lighter and more comfortable to wear than a bra made out of standard materials. No wire doesn't mean you have to give up support entirely though.

Slings that surround the inside of the cups (those are also made of the spacer fabric) and an elastic band under the cups give you extra support, and greater comfort (without a wire).

The center is tall, narrow, and arched for comfort (if your stomach is large). This shape is best if your breasts are close-set.

Pretty lace, seaming and full inner slings (encircling the inner cup) for more support make this bra a comfortable non wired option for plus sizes.  Vertical seaming adds extra lift, without any underwire to dig into your skin.

The material is not stretchy, so it will stay more stable, and give better support and hold.  It's arched in the center, but there is a band for additional stability and support (great for holding up more tissue without the wire, but not ideal if you have a short torso).

The sides and back are high and constructed of powermesh, which gives even more support (and reduces back fat).  It's full coverage and has a high neckline (so not good for tank tops or shirts with plunging necklines).

Elila Bras Fit Note

Elila's sizing is different from other bra manufacturers.  When you choose a size, get one size larger than usual in the band and two sizes smaller in the cup. So, if you are normally a 38F, you'll need 40D.
