Bras for Tall Women with Longer Straps That Fully Adjust

Panache Tango Luxe Underwire Balconette Bra (9076),30GG,Bluebell
Bras for tall women can be hard to find. Standard bra straps often simply aren’t long enough. If you carry your height mostly in your legs, it may not matter that much. On the other hand, if your height is in your torso, you’ll need bras with longer straps so you can adjust them properly.

There are several ways to address this problem and find a bra that will fit you if you’re tall, or have a long torso.

The first is to get a bra with longer than average straps. As with everything else about bra sizing, each manufacturer and design will be different.

The second approach is looking for bras with straps that are fully adjustable; that way you can take advantage of the full length of the strap, instead of just part of it.

A third option is to look for bras designed with straps that can be criss-crossed. These are longer by design (since more length is needed to cross the straps in back). You may not be able to wear them criss-crossed, but the standard way should work.

As usual, I’ve sorted these by body type (full bust, average, small bust, and full figure) so you can easily find the right bra for your shape.

Full Bust Bras for Tall Women

Panache Tango Luxe Underwire Balconette Bra (9076),30GG,Bluebell

The Panache Tango collection is one of their best sellers. You get a cradle of fabric framing the cups for support, as well as a multi-part seamed cup for lift and shaping. Those seams are the secret sauce for lift and a rounder shape.  The tall sides and back (for smoothing), and a great fit. And, it still manages to be pretty.

The center is narrow, so it’s best if your breasts are close-set. The straps, however, are wide-set, so it’s not a good bet for narrow shoulders.  It has long straps and long underwires, which make it perfect if you are tall.

Since it's lined, but not padded, there’s no extra weight, and it won't enter the room five minutes before the rest of you.

Available in an astounding array of UK sizes, including 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, and 40 D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J, JJ, and K; 42 D-K, and 44 D-FF in about 30 colors, including grey/violet, rouge, turquoise, chai, nutmeg, black, rose, blush,  and cobalt.

Empreinte Women's Melody Underwired Seamless Bra 0786, Caramel, 34E

This bra is fashioned of sheer, exquisite lace that won't show under thin tops.  There's satin along the cups and straps and a tiny tulle and satin bow in the center for an elegant touch.

The miraculous thing is that it's smooth and supportive, without any seams or padding. It's so supportive, light, and comfortable you'll hardly realize you are wearing it, even if you need an H cup.

Yes, Empreinte bras are definitely an investment, but they last and last far longer than most other bras.

And the straps are long enough for tall women.

Sides and back have extra holding power (to minimize side and back rolls). And it keeps everything firmly in place.

The cups are full and deep, so this is best if your natural shape is rounded (rather than shallow). You may want to go down a cup size. Lavish lace and matching satin trim in caramel, pink, gold, jade, and black.

EU sizes 30-G, 32C-G. 34C-G, 36C-G, 38C-F, 40 C-F, 42C-E.

Wacoal Women's La Femme Contour Underwire Bra 853117 Black Bra 30D

If you'd rather have a smooth cup, try this Wacoal bra. It's contoured to hide the headlights, and there's no lace to show under your clothes, just a band of embroidery along the bottom. That embroidery is not just pretty; it also gives more stability and helps support and lift your bust.

The leotard back keeps the straps from slipping, and the straps are fully adjustable. They've also got slight ridges to help hold the slider in place.

Comes in black, sand, fawn, pearl pink, marine blue, and lilac. US sizes 30D-DDD, 32D-H, 34B-H, 36B-H, 38B-DDD.

Chantelle Women's Revele Moi Perfect Fit Underwire Bra, Black, 30E
Chantelle bras are always pretty and this is no exception. The cups are sheer on top and embellished with geometric embroidery on the bottom. It is seamed, but they will lie flat and not show under your clothing.

Extra support in the back and sides gives you better projection and keeps back and side fat under control.

The straps are fully adjustable, so they’re long enough for tall women.

Beige, white, rose, and black in EU sizes 30D-H; 32, 34. 36, 38 B, C, D, E, F, G through H, 40B-G, and 42B-F.

Chantelle Women's Rive Gauche Full Coverage Bra, Chambray/Stone, 38H

It's super soft, pretty, and shapes you without any padding. There's a bit of elastic along the upper edge to keep everything in place. And, it's been around for a while (so no worries that they'll stop making it; I hate when that happens). The lace is smooth, not bumpy or lumpy so it won't show under your shirts.  The angled seams give great lift and support.

There are support panels on the sides, and a light lining on the tops of the cups for modesty. That all makes this bra lightweight and comfortable (no heavy padding or bulk).

EU Sizes 32C,D, E, F, G, and H; 34, 36, 38, 40 C-I; 42C-H; 44D-H.

Black, cappuccino, light blue, sandalwood, amber, and pink.

Average Bust Bras for Tall Women

Warner's Women's Play Stay Cool and Dry Wireless Lift Comfort Bra RN3281A, Toasted Almond, 34A

Made of special cooling fabric, this bra will help keep you cool even on the hottest days.  The straps are fully adjustable, and can be worn either straight or crossed, which means they have extra length. And, they adjust and detach in the front, so it's much easier to reach the sliders to get the right fit.

There's a bit of a bump in the bottom of the cups, for extra lift, but it's not a push up (so no extra cleavage).  Perfect if you are a bit droopy.

It's wirefee so there's nothing to rub against your skin. It's not intended to be a sports bra, but it would likely be perfect for light exercise (like walking or yoga).

Comes in butterscotch, almond, pale blue, medium blue, magenta, white, and dark gray in US sizes 34C to 40C.

b.tempt'd by Wacoal Women's Future Foundation with Lace Contour Bra, Rose Smoke, 34D

No seams to show under your clothes, but there's an added bonus of lace between the cups and around the band, for an extra bit of style.

The center is wide, so best if you are wider set or splayed. The bandless design also makes it more comfortable if your stomach is larger.

US sizes 32 B-DD, 34 and 36 A-DDD, 38B-DDD, and 40 B-DDD in rose, slate blue, and black. (plus some fashion colors).

It does go a bit into larger sizes, but b.tempt'd bras run a bit smaller than bras produced under the Wacoal label (its parent company).

Calvin Klein Women's Perfectly Fit Flex Lightly Lined Perfect Coverage T-Shirt Bra, Sandalwood, 30B

Just a bit of padding, for modesty, with no muss or fuss to peep or poke from under your clothes. The bandless styling means the bra won't dig into your tummy when you sit down or move around.

The fabric is stretchy, so it will conform better to your shape and give you a better fit.

Calvin Klein does tend to run even smaller than b. tempt'd, so keep that in mind when ordering.

Available in US sizes 30B-DDD, 32A-DDD, 36A-DDD, 38A-DD and 40A -D in beige, black, lilac, sandalwood, dove, burgundy, white,  and pink. Can be worn standard or racerback (there's a hook in the back).

Small Bust Bras for Tall Women

Just because you’re tall, doesn’t mean you’re busty. These bras will fit smaller busts (some add the illusion of more size, some don’t).

Vanity Fair womens Push Up Bra, Underwire - Beige Jacquard, 34B US
This style has convertible straps (extra length for tall women), plus the “boost” of padding to add a full size to your bust. Great if you have a blouse or dress that doesn’t quite fit right. It’s soft and smooth, so there are no seams to show through clothes.

The plunge neckline is great for low-cut tops. It has a wide center, so it’s better if your breasts are wide set.

This comes in so many colors and prints (40 of them!) I won’t list each one, but there’s the basic beige, white, black, plus ivory, cherry, blackberry, sapphire, rose, leopard, dotted swiss and two-toned blue.

US sizes 32A,B; 34 A-D, 36A-D, and 38B-D.

OnGossamer Women's Gossamer Mesh Convertible T-Shirt Bra, Black, 30B

A simple clean design with just a bit of decorative stretchy lace edging on the cups for a better fit, and a criss-cross detail in the front.  The center panel is wide, so it's best if you are wider-set.

The straps are convertible and come off in both the front and the back, so it's easy to adjust them.  Since they're convertible, that also means they are longer than usual. You can wear the bra standard, criss-crossed, or as a halter top.

Comes in black, champagne, and mocha (and some sizes in cosmo pink or red) in US sizes 30B-D and 32-38B-DD.

Full Figure Bras for Tall Women

Wacoal womens Retro Chic Full Figure Underwire bras, Ivory, 32D US

If you travel east/west, this bra will help you face forward again.  There's boning on the sides to help push and center everything in front where it belongs.

It will hold you up and in place, even if you are an H cup.  The straps adjust entirely along their length so you can get just the right fit.  The center is high and wide and adorned with a sparkly "gem" between the cups.  There's also seaming for support and lift topped with lovely Chantilly lace. Since it is "retro" it is not an extra-rounded style, so keep that in mind.

Available in ivory, toast, cappuccino, persian red, black, mushroom, and several other colors (not in all sizes), in US sizes 32D-G, 34, 36, 38 40C-I; 42, 44, and 46 D-H.

Vanity Fair Women's Body Caress Full Coverage Underwire Bra 75335, Midnight Black, 34C

This bra solves the height problem with convertible straps. The straps are longer than standard bras (so there’s enough room to criss-cross them). You can use that extra length to your advantage if you’re tall.

As a bonus, it’s also got back and side control to minimize back fat and underarm spillage. There’s some padding (just enough so you don’t show through), but not enough to add extra bulk.

Comes in white, beige, black, ivory, navy, grey-violet, pink, turquoise, raisin (with leopard trim), and taupe in US sizes 34B,C, D, DD; 36 B, C, D, DD; 38 B,C, D, DD; 40 C, D, DD; and 42C.

Chantelle Women's C Magnifique Seamless Unlined Minimizer, Black, 32D

Definitely not for petites, this bra is full coverage and has fully adjustable straps. On the other hand, it's just right if you are tall or have a long torso.    It's smooth and has no seams or lace so it won't show under your clothing or thin tops.  Since it's bandless, it's more comfortable if you have a larger stomach. Cups are stretchy for a better, more custom fit.

The bra minimizes without flattening or squashing, so you get a flattering, rounded shape.

It has sets of hooks in the back, so it's almost like having a built-in extender/reducer. Great if you are in-between band sizes.

Comes in ivory, pink, beige, hazelnut,  pale rose, deep blue, leopard, camo, and black in EU sizes 32,34, 36, 38 40 C-I, 43C-H, 44C-F.

  2. Hi Elisa,

Sure there are a number of options that can work for you.

The Olga No Side Effects GM3561A is smooth, seamless, and has fully adjustable straps, which is what you need. There is no lace or decoration to show under your clothes and it also has side smoothing material to hide any bulges. It comes in ivory, beige, and black.

The Vanity Fair Beauty Back 72345 also has no wires to poke or dig into you. It is also a smooth, seam-free style, and has back and side smoothing. The straps are fully adjustable so you can pull them out as far as you need to. It comes in white, pink, beige, and black.

There's also the Just My Size Satin Stretch 1960. This is a seamed bra (which will give you better support). No wires though. The seams will help give more lift and support. This one is a bit fancier looking with a jacquard fabric and satin trim. It comes in white, beige, and black.

If you like color, the Bali One Smooth You DF6556 has contour cups (for modesty, not added size), a tall back and sides for smoothing, and a leotard back. It comes in white, beige, tan, bright blue, and black.

Also, if your straps start to hurt after a while, that might be a sign that you need a smaller band and a larger cup. If the straps are doing too much work, they will start to dig into your shoulders.

  3. What about comfy, lace, no wire, bralettes? I know I'm not a teen but I don't have squat to put in a bra so these work for me, if I wasn't so tall! I have tried several and really they ride up my boob so badly it's not possible and they never seem to come with reg bra like straps to adjust at all.

  4. Hi Bee,

Don't worry, there are comfy, lace bralettes that do have adjustable straps, and no pesky wires. Some of these have fully adjustable straps and some are criss-cross. Straps that are fully adjustable can be pulled out further and the convertible straps are naturally longer so that there’s enough room to cross them. Also, if your bra is riding up in the front, the band may be too big.

First, there's the Freya Fancies Bralette AA1010. This is a pullover bra, so there are no hooks in the back. The straps are fully adjustable so you can get them long enough. There’s a pretty band of lace on the bottom of the bra and lace trim along the tops of the cups. The cups themselves are mesh, with a lining for modesty. It comes in white, pink, and black in sizes XS-XL.

Next is the Wacoal Insider 852212. This comes in a pretty Caribbean ocean blue, black, or beige. The cups are mostly lace, with a lining on the lower section. It has no wires and there’s an angled seam for shaping and better support. The plunge neckline will be good for low cut summer tops. The straps are fully adjustable. It comes in sizes 30-36.

Another option is the Calvin Klein QF1944. This is completely sheer lace, with triangle cups and no wires. The straps are convertible to criss-cross, which means they are extra-long. Do keep in mind that Calvin Klein tends to run small. Sizes XS-XL in red.

Or, the Maidenform Fit to Flirt MFD822. The criss-cross straps are adjustable, and it has lace straps, with a lace overlay on the cups. It has a bit of padding and a fun low-cut neckline. Comes in sizes S-XL in white, peach, gray, lilac, burgundy, ivory/black, black/navy, and black. Some colors have sheer lace straps and some are satin. Maidenform tends to run small.

Finally, there’s the Hanky Panky Stretch Bralette 113. This comes in a rainbow of colors: reds, pinks, blues, greens, gray, ivory, purples, orange, black, etc. The straps are adjustable, and run long. It comes in sizes XS-M.

  5. I'm looking for a 32DD without underwire. The non-underwire ones you suggested don't seem to come in 32 band size. What can you suggest? This has really been a long-term struggle for me. Hope you can help!

  6. Hi Joe,

That certainly is frustrating! I did find a few ready-made options in your size, as well as a couple of ideas for getting around the problem with a bit of creativity and tailoring.

First, you can try the b. Tempt’d tied in dots 9052228. This is a push up, seamless bra with no wires. It has fully adjustable straps, and will give you more cleavage. This does tend to run a little small though. It comes in toast, gray, and black.

Or, there’s the Cleo Lyzy Triangle 9766. This is a lace bralette, and is slightly sheer. It’s got a scalloped neckline and a band underneath for a bit of support without a wire. The straps fully adjust, so they should be long enough. This is in UK sizing, and Cleo runs a little smaller than its sister brand (Panache) so you might want to experiment with sizing and try an E. This only comes in black lace.

A third option is the Wacoal Side Smoother T-shirt Bra 852281. No wires, no seams, no lace, and nothing to show under your clothes. It does have smoothing (which you may not need), and boning at the sides (which will give you better support). The straps are fully adjustable and it comes in beige and black.

Two other thoughts. One, you could try sister-sizing to a 34D. That way you get the same volume as the DD. Then, either look for a brand with a tighter band, or have the band taken in by a tailor (or do it yourself if you can sew).

For example, there’s the Wacoal Casual Beauty Wireless Bra 852247, which is seamless, and stretches to fit. The straps are fully adjustable, so they should be long enough. It’s got inner slings for better support and better shape without an underwire. This is full coverage, and a "casual" bra (no lace or bows). It comes in beige and white.

Or, the Bali One Smooth U Lace Wirefree 6546. This has detachable straps that convert to criss-cross, so they are longer than standard straps. It's smooth, with just a bit of lace trim overlay on the sides of the cups. The lace hides a side sling for better support. It comes in white, pink, beige, and black.

The last option is to take a bra you like that fits and get longer replacement straps. If you have something with removable straps, all you have to do is hook on new ones. For example, Divas Removable Replacement bra straps come in 10mm and 15mm widths and four colors (black, white, beige, and off white). Or, there’s also Closecret Closecret Women's Convertible Bra Straps in 12mm or 15 mm which come in a three-pack of beige, white, and black. Toss the old, too small straps and hook these on instead. Or, again, if you have sewing skills (or a handy tailor) you might be able to take off the old straps and sew these on instead.

    Hope this helps!

    1. Hi Unknown,

Do you mean a longer cup? Or a longer strap? It's hard to give recommendations without knowing your band size, but if you need the longer strap then the Lily of France or the OnGossamer in the small bust section on this page should work.

    1. Bali Comfort Revolution Front-Close Underwire Bra 3P66 comes in your size and has fully adjustable straps. It's a smooth cup with just a little padding and a pretty jacquard design. Comes in white, black, and multiple shades of "nude".

If you prefer a soft cup, there's also Playtex 18 Hour Classic Soft-Cup Bra 2027 which has tall sides for smoothing, fully adjustable straps, and breathable panels so it's more comfortable.

Or, you might try Bali Double Support Wirefree Bra DF0044 which has a pretty picot trim down the front. It's super soft too.

  9. Any suggestions for strap pad problems. Empreinte for full bust shown above, is a good example how the zig-zaged seam at back of shoulder pad moves forward as you lengthen the strap. That rough seam saws & cuts the skin at top of shoulder. (6ft 38F/G). Tried Silicon /add on strap pads. They fall off with movement. Loose them.
All elastic straps too bouncy. Paid alot for custom straps til the bra shop stopped. Appreciate helpful suggestions.

    1. Freya Fancies Underwire Balcony T-Shirt Bra AA1030 has fully adjustable restricted stretch straps. It comes in both sizes you mentioned. It has smooth cups and just a little padding for modesty.

Le Mystere Modern Mesh Full Fit Underwire Bra 8284 also has both restricted stretch and fully adjustable straps. It's fairly lightweight too. Note that it is available in 38F, but not G.

As for the Empreinte, the only thing I can think of is to sew some narrow ribbon inside the straps so they don't rub against you.

  13. Would a bra with long straps help bring the bra down for a short torso? The bras for short torsos comes up too high under my armpits causing pain. Just thought longer straps would be a possibility to bring the bra down. Thank you.

    1. Over-tightening the straps would just pull the bra too high on your chest, causing it to dig into your sternum. You need to look for bandless styles with shorter wires and sides. There's a whole post listing them here :https://findabrathatfits.blogspot.com/2017/01/bras-for-short-torsos.html

    2. Forgot to add that fully adjustable (or even adjustable) straps are rare in leisure bras. You might need to look for a stretchier fabric to get what you need.

  15. Appreciate your comments and encourage ongoing sharing as discontinued & new bra styles are a constant in life. Unfortunately it's not that easy for tall torsos, unless small cup size. Pregnant and women over 6ft with larger cup sizes DD up GG+ find stretch strap fabrics are unsupportive that sway/ bounce with walking.
When your chest is high at or above average height eye level, bra control is required.
Criss cross hooks left uncoupled, the cross hook faces outward & damages knits and fine material.
Longer straps for larger cup sizes have sewn in shoulder pads. Often not captured online images.
In most cases the ends of the pad have zigzag seams that saw /cut into your collar bone and top of shoulder.
We live in hope you'll locate a style that fits women with this need. Thank you Jodi.

  16. There are quite a few bras on this page in larger cup sizes, up to K cups! All have fully adjustable straps, that aren't padded. Nearly every bra link has photos from multiple angles, with zoom in buttons, so you can get a good look.

If you let me know your size, I can try to help further.
