Justswimmingly
Thanks for all the great tips. This is my current favorite bra fitting lens :)

LittleTwoTwo
I fear I shall never have a proeprly fitted bra, one wash and thats it ... no more nice fitting lol. Great advice and fantastic information. Liked

edecas
I had really given up on them fitting well. I am going to take some of this info with me next time. Great!

WonderBright
I love your lens! Thanks for all the tips, this is indispensable - I just got properly fitted at a specialist boutique and went from a 36DD to a 34G - I can't get over the feeling of wearing a bra that doesn't need to constantly be adjusted as the day goes on, and I've been wondering why on earth bra manufacturers make things so difficult! You can be sure I'll be linking to you, since the girls who read my lens on dresses for curvy girls need to know this stuff STAT!

  Jodi
Thanks! I have no idea why manufacturers make everything so hard (bet men don't have these issues with their clothes!). Thanks for the comment and the link back

jodiesme
Great lens. I found it very informative. I work in a "major dept store" lingerie shop for the last 15 years and am a certified bra fitter and found information that I never knew. Thanks!

Mary
hi it's nice to know that I'm not the only one having a hard time finding bras we as woman need to stick together.

ZCademy
I'll have to remember this lens next time I go bra shopping. I have a small ribcage and am quite full, so I will print off your suggested bras in my shape to try.

TravelingRae
This is a fabulous lens! I love your comparison of the fit between various brands.

Mary
Hi when are people going to make bras look sexy in bigger sizes and in color

Jodi
They do! If you look at this post on sexy full figure bras, you'll see bras (in pretty colors) that come in sizes up to an L cup.

jembie
Thank you for such a great lens. I have always had a problem with buying bras and have never worn the same size twice. I am going to favourite this and come back to it.

poutine
I have had trouble with bras since Day 1.

After reading this, I will look more carefully next time I get a new bra.
It will help.

Jodi
Me too. And the fact that I was wearing the wrong size didn't help either!

grannysage
Oh my, I can't believe I stumbled on this. Bras are the invention of a mad scientist, probably male. When I was young, I didn't need one but begged for one because "everyone else has one." Then I moved into the arena of Playtex works find for me. As I grew older, I also grew in girth. But my cup size stays the same. Manufacturers think if you are a large woman you must have large busts. Not! I was so frustrated I cried. I finally found something that worked at Lauren Silva online. The most humorous thing is that I worked in the lingerie department in Walmart for 5 months. I had no idea there were so many kinds of bras. I received no training and yet had women asking me for advice all the time. Thanks you for doing all this research, it is a topic will help many.

codyman4
Some very useful information for every woman, thanks.

fanfreluche
Back with a "Lucky Leprechaun" Squidoo angel blessing. Finding a bra that fits is such a real pain, anything that can help is a must read.

Wonder-V
I LOVE that you did so much research and profiled this! I am like the Bra Cop around my house and with some of my friends kids! I was never sized when I was younger and only went to a specialty shop to get sized the first time around 6-7 years ago (I'm 34). It was in total shock when I put the right bra on the first time then slipped my favorite v-neck shirt on...it was like I had lost 20 lbs! I get my daughters sized at least once a year as my youngest has a larger band and smaller cup, while the other has grown to a 36 DD since last year! The pro's at my shop are a huge help, and since I am a 42 GG, it's not like I have many options outside of i-net ordering! Thanks so much again!

raosrinivas
Nice selection and collection with tips. Thanks for sharing.

mypotlpeople
I find it frustrating buying bras. I go up and down about five pounds from month to month, and it always changes the fit of bra that previously fit. Thanks for showcasing where to get these bras that are harder to find.

Geekgurl
Great information and pictures. I always thought the best bras were Victoria Secret, but there are a lot in your lens that make me think otherwise.

bcarter
I finally found some decent bras that fit about 6 months ago. My biggest problem is alway the style is discontinued when it's time to go and get some more. Then I'm back to square one.

Bookmarked, blessed and liked. Thanks again.
B

Jodi
Yeah, it is really frustrating when they discontinue something you really like (just happened to me too). And, of course, when they stop making particular bras it also means I have to go through and update this entire lens! Thanks for the blessing and the "like".

carlajo73
I have always struggled with finding the right boulder holder. Actually, I don't even think I know what size I wear...very frustrating for sure!! Ugghh!! Lots of useful info here!!

scar4
Very interesting and informative, lol, lol!

JaguarJulie
Holy Smokes Folks! I just "let" myself be measured a few months ago for a bra. Can't remember the last time I experienced that. It was an uplifting moment!

tembrooke
This is a really great lens! I find bra shopping very frustrating -- you're absolutely right that sizes vary. And it's not unusual to change sizes when you gain or lose weight, too. The perils of being a woman! (Blessed!)

ShirlW
Finding a bra that fits is right up there with finding a bathing suit and jean that fit! Lots of good info here - I learned a couple of things!

tvyps
When I was a kid, I thought them thar things were slingshots! When my daughter was little, we drove by a "Hooters" and she asked me, "Dad, what are Hooters?"...I answered, "Owls".

Jodi
LOL! That's funny!

lovelylashes
Slingshots? haha funny comment! :)

fanfreluche
Wow! Lots of great tips. Since I moved to France from Canada I am having nightmare trying to find bras. France has its own sizing along with European sizing, but it is not always clear which one it is. I ended up having my mom buying them for me and sending them airmail:)
Plus, finding some of the bigger size is difficult

jasmineann
Very helpful and informative guide. Finding a good fitting, good looking and comfortable bra can be difficult and makes all the difference.Thank you for sharing all this.

agalova
Very informative. I have always had problems finding a bra that fit, especially nursing bras. After using ill fitting nursing bras after two pregnancies, this time I went out and spent the dough required to get ones that fit. It is worth the money as I plan on nursing for a year. I may even wear these after since they fit so much better than my regular bras!

Jodi
It is absolutely worth the money. The better bras just hold up better. You actually save money because you don't have to replace them every six months.

ICanCook
I have only 2 bras that fit really well. It is so hard to find proper fitting bras. Thanks for these good tips. I'm sure armed with this info I will have better luck selecting better fitting bras.

livingfrontiers
so much great information, thanks for the lens! I used to work for a bra company, and this is a problem for many!

WildFacesGallery
Finding a good bra that supports and is comfortable is always a challenge. I started using Cacique. Love them and kinda stopped looking elsewhere.

Kiki
Jodi, you've done a great job. I live about 250 miles from a city so I have been searching online for over a year for the perfect bra.............the shipping companies love me! I could do a stand up routine about the bras that have come and gone. When I got my last shipment, I opened it at work and we all fell on the floor laughing! It was the Le Mystere Energie Sport Bra. Granted, it is supposed to hold you in and support, BUT OMG this thing could be used for a sail in a hurricane! I'm talking PADDED in a 34G! I have tried different brands, sizes, types, and don't get me started on Swimsuits! Sizing is crazy, I am 30 under my chest and 38 around it, so, 34D right?....not since high school! The 34 G was close but the band is too big, so my next try will be 32H. I am 5', 110 lbs., just about to hit 60 yrs on the planet, and still on the hunt. Let's talk about large sizes with flimsy cups and stretch straps, what's up with that? Seriously though, you've done a job, I know that there are so many variables, it would be nice if the industry could get it together and be more uniform in their sizes.but we know that's not going to happen, so thanks for your work!!

Jodi_k
Oh my (sail in a hurricane - mmmphhh).

Sounds like you may also need one of the petite, large-figured bras. French bras (like Chantelle) tend to run smaller in the band and bigger in the cups than American brands (if that helps).

And watch the sizing, as a 32H Elomi is three cup sizes larger than a 32H Chantelle. Sigh. And yeah, it *would* be nice if they'd standardize the sizes, or at least label them (like 34D average or 34D full or something).

alteredkat
very useful info! great job!

Betsi_Goutal
Fantastic info, thanks so much for sharing. Bookmarking this!

Great info, and a purple star award! I was on a return visit to show my mother-in-law, this article!

Jodi
Thanks for sharing this with your mother-in-law. I hope it helped her. :=_

ShirlW
Good stuff here - congratulations on your Purple Star -

Jodi
Thanks!

LotusMalas
Lots of great info here! Especially the bras that run small! Congrats on your Purple star!

Jodi
Thanks Tipi and LotusMalas!

Tipi
Congratulations on the purple star!

Sami4u
Hi,

Great info. I worked in a lingerie boutique for almost two years. It really amazes me the number of us that have no idea how to find the right size bra.

resabi
Always a painful experience. I'm "full-figured" and would prefer a fabric underwire (actually, no underwire at all, but that's not a great choice either) or at least one where the underwires didn't form a bucket. Good, thorough information here. Most definitely blessed.

Jodi
If the underwire is bothering you, it may be because the bra doesn't fit properly. It should be comfortable.

If you really hate the wire, Glamorise makes larger bras with a supportive band, rather than a wire. The Glamorise Magic Lift might do the trick.
Thank you for the blessing. :-)

Momsbusy247
They say most women are wearing the wrong bra, this might just help many people find the right bra for themselves.

Jodi
I know I was. Never knew it either. Mostly it's wearing a band that's too big and a cup that's too small.

Pukeko
Excellent information. Finding a bra that is the right size got even more confusing when we moved to New Zealand and suddenly the numbers went from 10-20 something and the letters from A-G.

Jodi_k
That's interesting. My Kiwi friends never mentioned that! I would have thought the numbers would be metric.

LisaAuch
as someone who has struggled all her days with Bra's and correct fittings, even AFTER being measured, I hated it going for fittings and just accepting what the "professionals" were saying, your guide is great for women in this position to ensure they KNOW what they are looking for....well done Lisa

Jodi
Thanks Lisa! Knowing which brands or styles to look for saves a LOT of time in the dressing room.

d-artist
Love this lens...great information..when I was in Germany/Austria I shopped for bra's but it was difficult for me because of the different sizing...never did find one...but will look up some you have mentioned here...Thanks for sharing! a ~"Squid Angel Blessing"~

Jodi
You're welcome!

And thank you for the blessing!!

Nicola Loyd
Hi Jodi, really interesting lens. My company only sells Suzie May intimate lingerie but we are quite unique in that we are also marketers for a huge range of other branded underwear. This lens will be a great resource for our customers so we will definitely be including a link to it in some of our email campaigns.

Jodi
Hi Nicola,

I'm delighted you found it useful! And thanks for including it in your marketing!

cjsysreform
Hey Jodi, still love this lens! I just wanted to let you know about my new bra blog at http://www.32aabra.com and invite you to submit a guest article on finding a bra that fits. The blog is for small sizes, but since you have expertise on fitting for women across the whole spectrum, I figured some of my visitors (especially the teens who don't know their proper size) could benefit from your knowledge. Contact me at info@32aabra if you're interested. Thanks!

ChapelHillFiddler
What a smart idea. I haven't had a bra that fit properly in years. I hate how these days they are all stuffed, they look like torpedos on the racks. Thanks for visiting my Yiddish lens!

Jodi in reply to Chansonellensky
Glad you liked the lens! If you're not petite, a petite bra may not work for you. The cups are set differently, and they generally only come in smaller sizes. If the straps are falling off, it may be because they are too wide-set. Look for a bra with straps set close together.

Anon-Great lens! I learned a lot. I have a terrible problem with strap slip, and even though I'm not petite, I am very narrow-shouldered with a relatively full bust. I think I'm going to try a petite bra and see if the straps stay up.

cjsysreform
Hey, awesome lens! Rated 5*, favorited and lensrolled to my new lens about small bra sizes, The Itty Bitty Bra Guide.

Susan52
Wow, you covered the subject very thoroughly. Excellent job on the lens, deserving of a blessing from this SquidAngel!

drmani
Learning more than I need to, I suspect - but the young lady may need this info sometime soon, so all's grist to the knowledge mill :-) Nice lens, Jodi

badmsm
I used to work in a specialty lingerie shop that sold all bra sizes, and let me tell you, most women haven't a clue about how to buy a good fitting bra. Most were more concerned about the size written on the tag (like anyone else can see it!) than buying something that was comfortable and flattering.

Great info, Jodi! Ladies: Learn it, Know it, Live it!

5 stars, faved & Lensrolled!

Intuitive
I watch the Tim Gunn makeover show and wish I could find a "bra stylist" of my own. This lens comes pretty close. I had no idea about the shallow profile thing. That may be my problem. 5*!!

chefkeem
Funny thing is, I misread the title and expected to find a lens about "brats that fit". (I love weenies, you know) However, I'm impressed with the wealth of info and great tips (I think) on this page. 5*s and a SquidAngel Blessing!

Jodi  | in reply to JaguarJulie
Julie, you read my mind. I just need to find some pictures I can use!

JaguarJulie
It was my nail tech that told me about Wacoal bras as she loves them and she is a little bit well-endowed. I've not checked them out yet, but they are on my list. Perhaps what might help would be some pics of good fits vs. bad fits to demonstrate what to look for in a bra that fits well. A much needed resource!

Jodi | in reply to CCGAL
Wow, how did you make so many great lenses so quickly??!!

I'd never heard of most of these brands either - until I found I was wearing the wrong size. The brands I knew didn't come in the right size! So, I had to branch out to European and English brands (Aubade, Chantelle, etc.), which come in a much larger size range than American ones.

CCGAL
This is an interesting lens - I must admit, however, that I have never heard of most of these brands. I think this is a lens that you can continue to add content to over time and it will become a "best ever" resource for women. Good Job!

beeobrien
I've never seen a list like this. Your lens is so useful for helping me find a better fitting bra. Thanks.
