Are your breasts widely spaced or splayed? That means you can probably put three fingers between them easily. Or, do they go east/west rather than straight ahead or down? If this describes you, you probably have trouble finding bras that fit properly.
You need a bra designed to fit widely spaced breasts. Some brands tend to be more suitable than others. For instance, Fantasie and Panache bras generally have cups that are close together with a tall and narrow center panel, while Simone Perele tends to have bras with a wide triangle center panel.
Narrow center panel bras may hit in the wrong place, won't lay flat, and you'll be uncomfortable. There's no perfect solution to this, but there are a few tricks you can use to find a bra for widely spaced breasts, which will fit better.
Here are four tips that will help.
First, some bra styles have no center panel at all. Plunge bras in particular often have little or no center section, so while they're great for low necklines, they're not good if you have widely spaced breasts (you'll simply pop out of the bra). Demi cups or balcony styles are a better choice, since the style of the bra means the cups are further apart. The same thing applies to front closure bras (as the cups will be separated by the clasp).
Second, there are styles that just have cord between the cups. This sort of bra is better if your breasts are widely spaced, as the cord will pull apart to adjust to your body shape.
Third, bras with side support or slings can help too, particularly if you're large busted. The slings and panels help push your breast tissue forward and closer together.
Fourth, if the bra does have a panel, look for one that's wider than average. It will look a bit like a wide triangle with a flat top, rather than a tall, skinny one. Since it's easier to show this than describe it, here are two bras so you can see what I mean.
The brown strapless one, from Curvy Kate, has a tall, narrow center panel. It's much better for women with larger, close-together breasts. If your breasts are wide set, this style won't fit you very well.
Embellished with lace on the cups, the sides, under the cups, and along the back, this bra is both gorgeous and supportive.
The seamed cups and side slings provide lots of lift and support while giving you a natural, rounded shape. With all of that, the bra is surprisingly lightweight and comfortable, even at larger sizes. And, while it does have seams and lace, it doesn't show through except under really thin tops.
The cups are set far apart (see that wide triangle), so it's a good choice for widely spaced breasts.
Available in 13 colors, including white, sand, yellow, denim, purple, hollyhock, and black. All but the white have contrasting lace. US Sizes 32-40 B-DDD.
This bra also comes in a tshirt version if you'd rather have a smooth cup. The t-shirt version does run small in the band, so go up a band size and down a cup size to get a better fit.
Made with special material that remembers your shape (and its own) so that it travels well. It molds to fit you and it won't get smooshed in your luggage. The center is nice and wide and there's no band, so it's a good option for widely spaced breasts, as well as for shorter women, or if you have a large stomach.
Since it's completely smooth (the only decoration is a little center bow) it won't show under your clothes and there's no lace to bother more sensitive skin.
It does tend to run shallow, so it's better if you are too (that means that you are fuller on the bottom).
Also, the bands are a bit big, so you might have to sister size (down a band, up a cup).
Comes in beige, toffee, blue, rose, and black in EU sizes 32, 34, 36 B-G; 38 B-E; and 40B-D.
A truly outstanding bra that gives you something you may have never thought you'd get with widely set breasts: cleavage!
It has a great fit that hugs your body and pushes you together, creating décolletage even if you are wide set or tend to go east-west rather than straight ahead.
Since the fabric is spacer material, with no padding, it's still lightweight and comfortable. There's no extra bulk or size added. You'll hardly know you're wearing it.
Contrasting guipure lace on the straps and along the band adds a touch of elegance and sophistication. The straps are fully adjustable (up to the point where the lace starts), so it's a good bra if you have a long torso. They're also wide set, so it's best if you have broader shoulders too.
Beige, blush, peau rose, amaretto, , rose, and black in EU sizes 30C-F, 32-36B-G, 389G-F and 40B-E.
A sleek, lightweight t-shirt bra that molds to fit your figure. Your body heat activates the foam and it adjusts to fit your shape. Pretty cool!
The center panel is wide (great for wide-set breasts) and arched, so it won't dig into your stomach. There's no band either (which also makes it good if you are petite or have a short torso).
Calvin Klein tends to run small, so keep that in mind when ordering. Comes in US sizes 30 B-DD; 32, 34, 36 A-DDD, and 38B-DD.
While it does come in sizes up to DDD, there are only two hooks and the brand runs small, which is why I am putting it under average figure bras.
This bra has a great plunging neckline that's perfect for low-cut summer tops. The center panel is wide, and there's pretty lace along the back of the band and between the cups. It's also bandless, so it's more comfortable if you have a large stomach or if you are short.
The straps are inset to help keep them from slipping or sliding off your shoulders.
The demi cup styling make it a good choice if you are more shallow, but not if you want or need full coverage. If you're full and round, you might spill out of it.
US sizes 32, 34, 36A-DD, and 38B-DD.
This brand runs small, so it's best for smaller sizes. Comes in tons of colors: white, gray, black, shell, latte, black/beige, ivory/shell, navy/white dot, bright pink, pale pink, fuchsia, peach, lilac/gray, and red.
A beautiful bra embellished with lace along the cups and around the entire band. There's a sheer inset at the top of the cups for looks, with just a hint of contour padding on the bottom for modesty. The cups are also a bit stretchy, which is great if you aren't even, or don't quite fill out the top of the cups.
The center plunge front is perfect for lower cut tops. Wide-set straps won't show under square necklines or tops with deep scoop necks.
Comes in lots of different colors, but not in all sizes. Most sizes have white, black, beige, then there's jewel, red, truffle, gray, greens, and blues, in US sizes 30A-DDD; 32, 34, and 36A-G, and 38B-G. I have put this in "average" even though it comes in full bust and full figure sizes because Natori tends to run a bit shallow and small.
A classic bra with just a bit of lace between the cups and a tiny cross-hatch pattern on the straps. The plunge, wide center is great for wide set breasts. A high back and sides keep underarm and back fat under control.
It's shaped, but not heavily padded. The cups are just thick enough to avoid the "headlight" look.
Since the sides are high, it's likely best if you're taller or have a longer torso.
Comes in US sizes 36D-DDD, 38C-DDD, 40C-DDD and 42C-DDD in beige, black, white, ivory, steel violet, navy, walnut, beige leopard, inky blue, pindot black/white, and peach.
The inset strap design keeps the straps on your shoulders where they belong.
Comes in caramel and black, plus eclipse navy and festival pink print. in UK sizes 32GG-JJ, 34G-JJ, 36-40D-JJ, 42D-HH, 44D-G, and 46D-DD.
The Little Bra Company designs bras specifically for women who are both small-busted and petite. The center panel is wide, so it's a good option if your breasts are far apart (you can fit two fingers between them).
It's got padding for extra cleavage and shaping, to give you more oomph without looking fake. It's also versatile; the straps can be worn standard, criss-cross, or halter.
The cups are smooth (no seams to show through), with lace around the entire band and along the front of the straps.
Sizes 28, 30, 32, 34 A-C; 36 A and B; 38A in vanilla, lilac, mocha, and black.
Plenty of pretty colors here (though I think they were hungry when they picked them), and band sizes down to 30 make this bra unique. It's made of smooth, soft fabric with stretchy, flexible cups for a better fit.
The lace center panel is wide so it's ideal for wide-set breasts. There's also lace along the band for a refined look.
The straps are fully adjustable so you can get them just the right length (whether you are tall, short, or somewhere in-between).
It does go up to a G cup, but I think it's not supportive enough for the larger sizes. Stick to the small ones.
Available in US sizes 30-38A-G in cafe, mocha, guava, rose beige, radish red, green pear, ming blue, smoke blue, ink, lilac, plum, purple, raspberry, silver, and black.
No lace, no fuss and nothing to show under your clothes. It's got thin straps that won't peek out under your tops.
It does have some padding, but not excessively so, just enough to hide the "headlights" from the world.
The wide center panel is more comfortable if your breasts are widely spaced. It's also arched and bandless so it won't rub against your stomach.
Champagne and black (some slate blue) in US sizes 32A-36DD.

The lace-embellished blue and white bra on the left, from Wacoal, has a wide center panel and a sweetheart neckline shape. There is a lot of space between the cups, so it's a good option if your breasts are widely spaced or splayed (going east west)
Bras for Widely Spaced Breasts
(Full Bust)
I've sorted the bras by the body type (full bust, full figure, small bust, etc. to make it easier to find a bra that will fit your figure).Embellished with lace on the cups, the sides, under the cups, and along the back, this bra is both gorgeous and supportive.
The seamed cups and side slings provide lots of lift and support while giving you a natural, rounded shape. With all of that, the bra is surprisingly lightweight and comfortable, even at larger sizes. And, while it does have seams and lace, it doesn't show through except under really thin tops.

Most full-figure bras have a narrow center. Not this one. Pretty tone-on-tone patterns, and a sheer lace band along the tops of the cups turn this bra into a real stunner. And, it comes in lots of sizes too.
Cut-and-sewn styling gives better lift and support for larger cup sizes and there's a support panel encircling the entire bottom and sides for extra lift.

Stretchy lace gives this bra a great fit that really hugs your curves. There's no padding or extra bulk, as it's unlined. The seaming gives great shape and lift, even if you are a JJ cup! As a bonus, there's a clever hook in the back so you can wear it the standard way, or as a racerback.
It's got a wide, arched center, great for wider set breasts, as well as if you carry weight in your stomach. It haa a leotard back so the straps will stay put. There's also side support to push tissue forward and away from your arms.
UK sizes 32 through 34 GG-JJ, 36-40 D-JJ, 42D-HH, 44D-G and 46 D-DDD (UK sizes) in black, white, honeysuckle, pale pink, aubergine, and fashion colors.
It also comes in a t-shirt version.

I'm looking for a strapless, underwire, side-supporting, EXTRA padded, WIDE-breasted, front closure (preferably)bra. Any color. Size 48D. Do you have one?
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy Lou,
ReplyDeleteI’m afraid a front closure won’t work with a strapless bra (particularly in your size) since the cups and the wires have to be different shapes. A strapless bra cups are rather rounded, and the wire is a deep U shape to contain and hold everything. On a front close bra, the cups are more triangular and the wire is sort of a sideways letter J.
There are some options in your size that are underwire, strapless, with wider center panels and some padding though, none are heavily padded. A few are push-up, so if you are looking for better cleavage, that should help.
First, there’s the Dominique 3541. This has some padding (mostly for headlight control), an underwire, and side boning for support. It’s completely smooth (like a t-shirt bra) and it comes in beige, white, and black.
The Valmont 641 is a contour bra, meaning it is thicker and the cups will retain their shape even when it’s not being worn. It’s an underwire bra and comes with two sets of straps. It also has two sets of back bands (there are two sets of hooks slightly off to each side), so that you can wear a clear band under a dress with a low back. There’s boning on the sides to give better support. It comes in beige and black.
You might also look at Torrid’s web site. They specialize in fuller figure clothing and have a better full figure strapless bra selection than most other places. All of these bras can be worn five different ways (strapless, standard, criss-cross, halter, and one strap across).
The first one, which is model number 11128161 is push up, so it will give you more cleavage and make you look bigger. There’s a pretty lace overlay and lace scalloping along the bottom of the band. This comes in pink.
There’s also model 10447198, which is a push-up style as well. It has side smoothing for bulge control and support. It comes in beige and has smooth cups with a lace overlay on the bottom.
And lastly, there’s 10088324. This is a black bra with lace in the center panel and under the band. Other than that, the cups are completely smooth. It is a push up, and has side boning for support. The cups are lined for modesty.
Hope this helps!
I am looking for a bra that will lift but allow my breasts to stay in their natural wide set position (no pushing together, I don't want cleavage). I am tall and long-torsoed and I believe my size is 38C. I hate the way straps feel where they sit and have had issues with slipping due to narrow shoulders so I prefer racerback. Any suggestions? Thanks so much. I would so love to have a comfy supportive bra that leaves my chest looking the way I want it to!
ReplyDeleteYou need to look for bras that have a wide center panel and fully adjustable straps that will allow you to get them long enough to fit your body. A leotard back will also help with the slipping straps problem.
DeleteHere are a few options that may help.
First is the Chantelle Velvet Touch Seamless Molded Bra 2751. It has a wide center panel which is better for your breast shape. There’s a j-hook in the back, so you can wear it as a racerback, and it has a leotard back. Both of those features will help keep the straps from slipping. The straps are fully adjustable, so you should be able to make them long enough to fit. The cups are smooth, with a lace overlay panel in the center and along the back and sides. Molded means it is shaped by machine, but is still soft and will yield to the touch.
There’s also a similar style, the Chantelle Velvet Touch Multi-part cup Bra 2755. This one has seams and a leaf pattern embellished on the cups. It also has a wide center, fully adjustable straps, the leotard back, and the J-Hook in back. You will get more support and better shaping from this style, because it has seams, but the seams may show under thin tops.
Next, there’s the Freya Idol Contour Balcony Bra AA1800. This is a contour style (or a T-shirt bra), meaning that the cups keep the same shape regardless of whether or not you are wearing the bra and will bounce back if you poke them with a finger. It has the best nipple coverage. There’s a mesh overlay on the cups (but the cups are lined so nothing will show through). The center is arched, the straps adjust along their full length, and it has a J-hook and a leotard back. It also has extra support panels in front for more support and lift.
I am a petite woman who is in search of 30C/wide set- wireless. Not only do I want wireless computing, i want a wireless bra too. Do you know of any? [crossing fingers]
ReplyDeleteThank you
Hi Plantedin Health,
ReplyDelete“Not only do I want wireless computing, i want a wireless bra too.” Thanks for the much-needed laugh!
Let’s see what we can do.
There’s a Wacoal How Perfect Wireless bra 852189 that has no wires and no set center panel. It’s a super-soft knit so it will be comfortable and stretch where you need it. There is some padding, but it’s not terribly thick. It’s also seamless, so nothing will show under your clothes. The cups run a little small, so you may want so size up. It comes in beige, purple, pink, and black.
Then there’s the Little Bra Company Vanessa S001. This is a longline bra, but it’s designed especially for petites, so it should be OK. There’s no wire, and the cups have a pretty floral lace overlay with a dart for better shape. It does have push-up padding, so you’ll get more cleavage. There’s boning at the sides for support and you can criss-cross the straps if you want to. The center panel is wide, so it should suit wide-set breasts. This comes in beige only.
Or, try the Little Bra Company Lea Bra L1001. This is designed for wider-set breasts and specifically designed for petite bodies. There's a pretty floral lace pattern on the cups, and no seams. You can wear the straps the standard way or criss-crossed. It comes in beige (with the floral design) or black (just plain).
Finally, you might try The Little Bra Company Elizabeth Petite Bra F006
This is technically a sports bra, but it doesn’t look all that much like one. There’s a lining and darts for modesty and a rounded shape. The straps are stretchy, but don’t adjust. It comes in black, beige, pink, and raspberry.
A 38a bra fits my bust perfectly where it should without side buldging out, but a 36b isn't wide enough in front and causes bulging on tbe sides, but the band fits. Ive tried several bras and I'm starting to think I will need to buy a 38a and have the back strap shortened. Is there any simpler solution to this issue?
ReplyDeleteHi Diana,
DeleteIf I understand correctly, the cup on the 38A fits, but the band is too big. Meanwhile, the 36B band fits better, but the cup is too big.
You might try Calvin Klein Perfectly Fit Modern T-shirt Bra (F3837) or their Naked Glamour Sexy Contour (F3316), both of which have short band and smaller cups. Start with the 36B and see how that goes.
I haven't been sized in a long time but I would place myself at 34-36 B/C. I have wide set and maybe slightly splayed breasts. I am looking for something that is comfortable and brings my breasts forward to create cleavage and good posture without being hard from padding or look unnaturally tight together. I have a plunge that fits decent and brings them forward and up but it is so hard from the padding that it looks a little unnatural and I'm afraid to even hug someone in it. I'm starting to think this "perfect" bra I'm looking for doesn't exist. Please help!
ReplyDeleteHi Nomadic Spirit,
DeleteGossard Superboost Lace Non-Padded Plunge Bra 7725 gives you great cleavage and uplift, without being padded. It comes in all four sizes you mentioned and has inner slings to help center your breast tissue and create the decolletage you want.
Chantelle Revele Moi Underwire Bra 1571 is a fuller cup, but it's got pretty geometric embroidery and multi-part cups. The parts (really the seams) lift you up and give you a nice rounded, full shape without any padding. There are also side panels to push you forward and create cleavage. And the seams are pretty flat, so you won't have bumps under thin clothing.
Lastly (and I have two of these myself), Simone Perele Andora 3D Molded Bra 131343 has excellent support, smooth cups (with just a bit of guipure lace) and somehow creates fantastic cleavage without any significant padding. The material is light and flexible and you hardly realize you are wearing it.

ReplyDeleteI am so thrilled to have found this post! Thank you so much for all of this helpful information. Currently, I am struggling to find a strapless bra. I am small busted with wide spread breasts. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteThank you again!
Hi Janette,
DeleteI have an entire post with strapless bras here: https://findabrathatfits.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-best-strapless-and-backless-bras.html
There's a section for small busts. You didn't say what size you need, but both the b.tempt'd by Wacoal 954108 and the Calvin Klein Strapless Push Up Bra F3493 start at 30B. The Calvin Klein has 32A cups.
Hello I am looking for s strapless bra to wear with my wedding dress.. I need a 38B wide set. I have been looking but b.v everything I finger just smashes my boobs down.
ReplyDeleteI realize this is belated, but if it helps anyone else... I assume you need strapless. Simone Perele Eden Strapless Bra 12E302 gives a beautiful shape and their bras give a lovely decolletage too.
DeleteAubade Lysessence Comfort Molded Bandeau Bra NK06-02 is another good choice. It's got boning on the sides, to help it stay up without straps and a nice low neckline too.
